Student Success Advisor - Student Services
"I'm excited to nominate Kelsey Thies for the Sterling Silver Award. Kelsey is a model employee who gives her all to NIC's students. I often catch Kelsey going above and beyond in her role as a Student Success Advisor to provide students with caring customer service, research good options, provide natural next steps, and check in on them at critical times. Kelsey takes her role as the advisor liaison to the divisions of English & Humanities, Communication & Fine Arts, and Business Administration seriously as demonstrated by regular attendance at division meetings, open lines of communication with faculty, and relevant referrals. On our team, Kelsey boosts morale by sharing her generous spirit, humor, and note-taking superpower with each of us. Kelsey relishes opportunities to collaborate across campus and be a knowledgeable advising expert. Finally, Kelsey has modeled work-life balance well by participating in the employee noon group exercise classes on campus where she has forged new friendships with valuable campus partners. Advising Services is so grateful to have an employee as dedicated and generous as Kelsey. She is an asset to the college and very deserving of recognition." - Brenna Dockter, Director of Advising - Advising

"I would like to nominate Kelsey Thies for the Sterling Silver award. Kelsey has been a tremendous benefit to the Advising and Career Services office, and to North Idaho College at large. Her customer service skills are excellent. She consistently gives all her empathy, care and attention to our students, staff, faculty and the community. She always has a smile on her face and greets people warmly. She will go the extra mile for a student, or potential student, making contacts around the campus to make sure the students receive satisfactory care. She has an ability to calm displeased constituents, as well as instill confidence in people who have joined our school for the very first time. Kelsey definitely makes the Office of Advising and Career Services a better place to work. She is always in a good mood and makes her coworkers smile. She isn’t just a part of the team, she is the glue that pulls the team together. Kelsey does not present herself as a head above in the office, but she clearly loves being a member of the office, letting her light shine on everyone. Kelsey is indefatigable. At times, she clearly powers through her own discomfort to bring comfort to others. But where others may grind down into surliness, Kelsey prevails. She works to keep her attitude positive and her work ethic high. People count on her to always be an open, smiling, face with a willingness to serve. Based on the text previous, it should go without saying Kelsey is the soul of reliability. People have reported giving her an unexpected task and having it completed uncannily fast. Simply put: if she days she’s going to do something, Kelsey will do it. That kind of dedication can only build tremendous confidence in her colleagues. In light of all these qualities, I implore you to consider Kelsey Thies for the Rising Star Award." - Jeff Davis, Student Success Advisor - Advising
